About The Role

We're seeking a dynamic individual to join our SEN Finance - Pupil Services team at the London Borough of Islington. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong desire to pursue a career in local authority finance/payments, undertaking day to day financial activity and contractual management, in a busy and ever-changing environment with fluctuating demands and priorities.

As a crucial member of our team, you will also be responsible for supporting the strategic development, commissioning, and procurement of provision for children and young people with SEND, ensuring effective financial management, cost controls and value for money, adherence to regulations, and effective project coordination in all activities. This role involves working closely with a variety of Education providers, external partners and internal colleagues from Pupil Services & both Children’s & Adult’s Social Care.

What we're looking for:

  • Level 2 or above AAT or relevant financial qualification or experience.
  • Proven track record managing and delivering day to day financial activity using financial management information systems.
  • Proven ability to use advanced functions and formulae in the Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience of monitoring and reconciling large complex budgets.
  • Experience of Procurement, Contract and Service-Level agreement management and monitoring.
  • Understanding of local government & schools’ financial regulations.
  • Ability to independently manage and coordinate workload effectively.
  • Confident in making delegated decisions.
  • Drive, ambition, attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in a fast-paced environment.
