CAREER GRADE PLANNER (DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT) S01 – P04 (£39,150 - £52,674) – PLANNING ENFORCEMENT TEAM
We’re looking for a Career Grade Planner (Development Management), to help us make meaningful change and to ensure optimal delivery of sustainable development. The role is based in our Development Management - Planning Enforcement Team.

Planning Enforcement is an essential service which underpins the credibility,transparency and integrity of the planning decision making system.
As an inner London borough with plenty of Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings and close proximity between commercial, industrial and residential uses, Islington provides a challenging but always interesting mix of Planning Enforcement Issues.
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic planning professional to join our fast paced,enthusiastic, varied and inherently interesting Planning Service to support the delivery of Islington Council’s key missions.
Successful candidates will have either experience or sound understanding of Planning Enforcement practice, a strong work ethic, excellent verbal and written communication, and customer service skills, as well as the necessary motivation to deliver high performance whilst managing a varied caseload and working to competing deadlines.
To apply you will have the following qualifications: (SO1 you should be attending a recognised course and for SO2 and above, you will have obtained qualifications from a recognised course). You will also have the skills and knowledge to:
• Assess,negotiate amendments to and write up detailed recommendations on a range of planning enforcement cases.
• Write up appeal statements accurately, applying all relevant planning policies and material planning considerations and to explain complex enforcement matters verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
• Working collaboratively with teams and colleagues across the Council on planning enforcement matters
• Look for and find creative solutions, pay attention to detail and take responsibility for delivering high quality work;
• Work well under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- To ensure that all complaints and correspondence are dealt within a timely, thorough and customer focused manner.
